its way off the coast of new england. right now north and east of boston. snowfall amounts up there, they had record snowfall. in fact, the snowiest november on record for central parts. look at the amounts. central park 4.7 inches of snow. bridgeport, connecticut, 5.4 inches of snowfall, after a hurricane, of course. as far as our temperatures go today, we're in the 50s. indeed chilly. we're going to be taking a bit of a breather from not just the chill that we've had out there over the last couple of days, almost two weeks now. but also, from this active pattern that we've been in. for your evening, 5:00, 7:00, under a clear sky. it's going to be chilly. we'll head down to 44 degrees by 9:00. 11:00 p.m., 42 degrees. sun sets today at 5:00. a dry, cold night. we've got a quiet day coming up tomorrow. and a warm break will be coming our way. wait until you see how high the temperatures are going to go, not just for the weekend, but also through the early part of next week. i'll have more in just a few minutes. >>> the army private charged with leaking government secrets to wikileaks

are seeing snow, even in new york city. all the big cities, boston, new york, philadelphia, a little snow. not much in the way of accumulation, really along the big cities and the 95 corridor, but still you'll see it come down. kind of get new the christmas spirit. we do have winter weather advisories and we will see accumulati accumulations. want to show you where. here's the radar. the white delynn naturing where the snow potentially is falling. some of it called zerba. starts as snow in the atmosphere but the atmosphere is dry but it dissipates so we don't see it at the surface. it does moisten the atmosphere to finally deliver some snow. this is the heart of it. scranton, pennsylvania, southeastern pennsylvania, northwestern new jersey, that's where we're going to get into the snow. morristown, new jersey, for example. but, with this line, a lot of energy with it, could see some severe weather. look at birmingham, down toward montgomery, all heading eastward, atlanta, georgia, will be slow go. no question this afternoon at the airport. things will really slow down. jackson all the way

it comes to these issues? what is interesting is, recently in boston, they reached their agreement on the teacher's union contract and have been fighting over it for the past two years. their contract the day disagree to in boston is very similar to what is on the table in chicago. -- the agreed to in boston is very similar to what is on the table in chicago. at the end of the day, no kids lost time out of the classroom. we're at the point now where we need to evaluate these educational proposals based on one simple yardstick. will this help a child learn? if the answer is yes, we should be for it. if the answer is no, but we should be against it. what will it take to change the dynamic? the solutions lie in accountability and quality teachers and autonomy. one of the solutions is also apparent choice. the more parents step up and speak out and pressure the system to change, the more than have to respond. the fallacy is that we expect that bureaucracies will reform themselves from within. i do not know about you, but in my spirit, i do not know an example of any bureaucracy -- expe

boston exactly who to talk to. there is nothing like that in 2008. that being said, the obama campaign has increased the presence in virginia. we know from last night they put out a number that nationwide the have contacted voters around the country. if you take a look at virginia you have to imagine that a significant chunk or contact information in virginia. the ground game is going to be like nothing we have ever seen before. it'll be at the same level of what is happening in ohio for florida. i saw people walking with the obama for americas sticker. you heard governor mcdonald's is a they're not taking him for granted. reminded that they need to vote. get them to the polls. these are places that have legitimate early voting. more than half of the voters are voting ahead of time. there is in person absentee voting. anybody can do it if they want to. there is a pretty lengthy list of specific standards that you need in order to vote absentee. the majority of this will be done on election day. >> what and on the numbers. what are the latest polls? >> i look at all these polls and a sw

the east coast have been opening up. washington, of course, baltimore, philadelphia, boston. the number of canceled flights yesterday, about 2,900. most of those new york flights. today, we got about 600. somewhere between 570 and 600 flights canceled today, that brings to about 21,000 now. the total number of flights canceled since just before sandy and through this storm. amtrak update for you now. amtrak says it will provide modified northeast regional service between boston and new haven today and between newark and points south starting today. i want to give you an update on the subway system, as well, here. there is some subway activity north of 34th street, but below 34th street, almost nothing. and that has been a real problem for folks in new york city. all of this having a big impact on travel. if you're driving into manhattan today, the mayor has ordered you cannot be in a car with fewer than three people. i've already received e-mails and tweets and texts from friends who are trying to drive into manhattan. they say it is a mess. yet again today over the george washington br
